Featuring Rob Horner
University of Oregon
Wednesday, February 20th, 4:30 - 6:00 pm EST.

Bullying behavior remains a significant concern in schools throughout the country. Schools using SWPBIS establish a strong foundation for behavior support, but additional efforts are needed to address the challenges posed by bullying behavior.

This webinar will provide:

  1. logic for establishing a school-wide social culture that minimizes bullying behavior
  2. five core skills that students need to reduce bullying behavior, and how to teach those skills to elementary and middle school students
  3. teacher skills needed to implement bully prevention efforts
  4. the data systems and organizational supports needed to assess, implement and sustain effective bully prevention efforts
  5. organization and implementation steps used by successful schools

Results from research assessing this approach to bully prevention will be provided.

This webinar will be made available and free for members after August 20th, 2013

Intervention for Autism Spectrum Disorders from the PBS Perspective

Featuring Mark Durand, Ph.D.
University of South Florida, St. Petersburg
Thursday, November 15th, 4:30 - 6:00 pm EST.

Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are a group of disorders that, at their core, all affect how one perceives and socializes with others. With the alarming increase in the numbers of individuals receiving this diagnosis (believed to be 1 in every 88 children in the U.S.) there is increased urgency to provide effective services. This webinar will describe how school-based PBS interventions are constructed for these students and how this approach differs from more traditional approaches. Highlighted will be suggestions for structuring the classroom, pitfalls of too much structure, and new work on how to support teachers and families.

This webinar will be made available and free for members after May 15th, 2013
