The Louis de la Parte Mental Health Institute was created over 25 years ago by the Florida Legislature to expand knowledge about how best to serve mental health needs of Florida's citizens. Florida's Positive Behavior Support Project is part of the Department of Child and Family Studies of the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences at the University of South Florida, and is funded by the State of Florida, Department of Education, Division of Public Schools and Community Education, Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services (BEESS), through federal assistance under the Individuals with Disabilities Education ACT (IDEA), Part B. The Schiefelbusch Institute for Life Span Studies

The Schiefelbusch Institute for Life Span Studies (LSI) at the University of Kansas was created in 1990 out of the Kansas Bureau of Child Research. Today it is one of the largest and most highly regarded human development and disabilities research centers in the country. The LSI brings together scientists of diverse disciplines including psychology, psychiatry, speech pathology, sociology, education, biology, pharmacology, physiology and medicine to study human development from its genetic origins through the final stages of life. ECS is a research unit within the College of Education at the University of Oregon that has operated since 1972. ECS focuses on the development and implementation of practices that result in positive, doable and scientifically substantiated change in the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families. Federal and state funded projects support research, teaching, dissemination and technical assistance activities.
